Thursday’s Meeting!!!! 08/09/18
Someone said that they did not know what a Small Hive Beetle was so Patrick and I asked around and found out that Sandy Pruitt
new a little about them and said that she would share her information with us at our meeting. Sandy has been a keeper of bees for about 15 years and has learned a thing or two about dealing with SHB. Sandy asked that we come and share or experiences and methods of dealing with these pests as well so this will be a good one.
Looking forward to all the snacks, stories, methods and fun.
EXTRACTION DEMO
Here it is! The meeting we have all been waiting for….time to see what it takes to get that sweet treat from the hive to the jar!!
We will have a honey processing demonstration by Rusty and Betsy East – an informative program that all will enjoy! Rusty and Betsy run 100+ hives and provide honey to businesses all around Pittsylvania County as well as setting up at both the Chatham and Danville farmers market. and we gave an update on bee shipments and dates for the up and coming spring packages and nucs.
April Meeting
Spring time, I mean it’s snowing but really its spring time but it’s snowing again, and oh yea some of our package bees are here, and swarm cells are showing up and, and, oh just come on to the meeting and let’s talk about Splitting hives and what to expect from our new packages and stuff.
May Meeting
Come bring your swarm stories and pictures if you have them while we talk about what we should be finding in our hives now in May. Some have asked about how to split swarm cells and all kinds of questions on new packages so come give your input! Bring your swarm gathering stuff to show and tell.
